Cllr Robert Dickinson (Goscote Ward)
Councillor and Vice Chair of the Parish Council
Birstall Parish Council
I have been a councillor since 24th July 2008 when I was co-opted onto the Parish Council as a councillor for the Stonehill ward before transferring to the Goscote ward in 2016.
I have been a Birstall resident for over 20 years now and love living in the Village, the fact that I enjoyed living in the village so much was the main reason for joining the Parish council in the hope that I would contribute to the efforts of the council to enhance the current provision and provide new facilities open to the community.
I currently hold the position of Vice Chair to the Parish Council and serve on the Management & Policy, Estates & Recreation, Planning and Gala & Civic Functions Committees.
I am also the Parish Council representative to the Birstall & Wanlip Neighbourhood Watch Committee and have recently been elected to serve as a trustee to the Burley Houses trust.
In my day job I am a shift manager at a major manufacturing company situated in Melton Mowbray, I have been with this company for over 17 years and previous to that, I worked for Social Services and in my earlier working years over 21 years as a mechanical engineer with British Coal.
I have quite a range of skills picked up through my previous work life experiences which I feel assists me in my roles on the Council.
