Birstall's Remembrance event this year was a very low key event but it was important that some commemoration took place to honour those who lost their lives during the two World Wars and other conflicts. The national branch of the Royal British Legion has advised all their local branches that they cannot take the lead in organising the remembrance events. Birstall Parish Council were informed of this by Charnwood Borough Council.

Many Years ago, Birstall Parish Council were Trustees of a local charity that has now ceased to exist. The Charity was set up to meet the needs of the elderly and needy in the village and when the Charity closed its accounts, the Parish Council decided to continue with this initiative and they honored the beneficiary list by making sure that they all received the gift of a Christmas Hamper.

A temporary road closure are required on Birstall Road from 22nd October 2020 for 2 days.
The road will be closed from between the Red Hill roundabout to the roundabout at Sibson Road, Birstall.
As the works progress, as and when required, School Lane, Acorn Close, Holt Road, Kilby Avenue, Freehold Road, Perserverance Road and east road will be closed at their junctions with Birstall Road.

Sadly Birstall Parish Council have been made aware of unacceptable behaviour occurring in the Greengate Lane Cemetery in the early evening.
This behaviour is understandably causing distress to those visiting the cemetery, expecting to experience peace and time for reflection.
