The Clerk submitted an enquiry to Leicestershire County Council asking why the Parish Council had not been consulted on this matter. The response received is shown below.

So far my enquiries can reveal that local Councillors, whether that is Parish, Borough or County were NOT consulted on this matter and I would be interested to hear from anyone in Birstall that was.

Birstall Playing Fields, Play Equipment and Outdoor Gym Equipment

The Parish Council have fully opened all of their enclosed play areas and play equipment on Monday 20 July 2020.

All play equipment will be disinfected twice a week by the Council's staff. Signage is in place limiting the numbers who can enter the enclosed play areas and asking you to avoid it if it is busy, the signs also remind everyone to social distance and wash your hands.

Temporary Traffic Regulation Order

A temporary road closure is required on Wanlip Lane from 13th August 2020 for 1 day.

The road will be closed between the junction of Windmill Avenue and Dalby Avenue.

The Temporary Traffic Regulation Order will be implemented for public safety to allow Severn Trent Water safely undertake works to replace a man hole cover and frame.

Enclosed Play Areas and Outdoor Gym Equipment

Following the announcement yesterday from the Government releasing Birstall from the Leicester Lockdown zone. The Parish Council are working on the safety inspections, maintenance and cleansing of their enclosed play areas, play equipment and outdoor gym equipment.

Leicester Lockdown to include Birstall

Leicester Lockdown to include Birstall

The official map of the Leicester areas to be included in the lockdown has just been received and Birstall is clearly included in this.

The Parish Council is waiting for further clarification on the level of lockdown required and will advise residents of the Councils actions.

School Lane Playing Fields Car Park - CLOSED until further notice

Birstall Parish Council have taken the decision to close the car park onto School Lane playing fields from today, 1 June 2020 until further notice.

The three pedestrian entrances on School Lane, Loughborough Road and Sibson Road will remain open for the time being.

Questions are being asked about why the Parish Council's playing fields, sports grounds and play areas remain locked, when the Government has recently announced that parks should remain open to the public.
