Birstall Parish Council's Christmas Hamper Cheer for senior residents
Many Years ago, Birstall Parish Council were Trustees of a local charity that has now ceased to exist. The Charity was set up to meet the needs of the elderly and needy in the village and when the Charity closed its accounts, the Parish Council decided to continue with this initiative and they honored the beneficiary list by making sure that they all received the gift of a Christmas Hamper.
Over the last few years,
the beneficiary list has naturally declined, and Parish Councillors decided that this heart-warming initiative should continue. They all agreed that Christmas time is a time for giving and thinking of others and this year it seems even more poignant that we should think of those who have been isolating and have spent an unusual length of time alone.
Councillors decided in 2019 to develop and grow the recipient list up to a maximum of twenty beneficiaries each year and they are asking for your help by seeking nominations from the community to enable them to continue to do this in December 2020.
The Parish Council are asking for you to nominate someone who is over 70 years of age that you feel deserves some Christmas Cheer.
The nomination form is available to collect from the Parish Council offices (please telephone prior to visiting the offices), we can email you a copy or you can download and print a copy from the Parish Council's website: www.birstallparishcouncil.org.uk
Please return your completed nomination forms to the Parish Clerk by post or delivered by hand to the Parish Council Offices on Birstall Road or you can email: firstname.lastname@example.org Received applications will be acknowledged and confirmation will be given on whether or not your nomination meets the criteria and that it has been successfully included on the Beneficiary List.
Nominations will close on 31 October each year to enable the hampers to be ordered and prepared ready for delivery the following December.
We look forward to hearing from you
