New Play Equipment
Birstall Parish Council realise that there is some frustration that the new play equipment has not been opened up to the public.
The Council are as frustrated about this as you are, unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond their control relating to health & safety with the installation, they are not prepared to risk anybody's safety and so cannot open this up to the public.
The Parish Council's own Estates Team were ready to open this last week but upon their own inspection, a number of faults were found that raised serious health & safety concerns.
The Clerk informed the contractor who have been called back in to remedy several faults today, unfortunately, the cargo netting needs to be re-manufactured and replaced. Hopefully, this should be done week commencing 23 August 2021.
The Clerk has asked for a Safety RPII report to be carried out before she is satisfied that the equipment is safe and fit for use.
The Parish Council apologises for the unexpected delay but hopes that you understand that they took the only decision they could in not opening it up until it is safe to use, they are not prepared to risk harm to anyone using a piece of their equipment.
