Birstall Parish Council have taken the decision to close the car park onto School Lane playing fields from today, 1 June 2020 until further notice.
The three pedestrian entrances on School Lane, Loughborough Road and Sibson Road will remain open for the time being.

Questions are being asked about why the Parish Council's playing fields, sports grounds and play areas remain locked, when the Government has recently announced that parks should remain open to the public.
This advice is aimed at those local authorities who manage public open spaces and parks such as Watermead Country Park, Abbey Park, Bradgate Park, etc.

It is with deep regret that due to the Coronavirus epidemic and the Governments advice on mass gatherings, the Council has taken the decision to cancel this years Gala which was scheduled for 20 June 2020.

The decision has been taken to close the Parish Council offices to the public to reduce the risk of infection. Whilst the office and Estates staff are still working, we need to put measures in place to protect the staff until such changes are forced upon us to self isolate or the Country chooses to go into lock down.
