Following the announcement yesterday from the Government releasing Birstall from the Leicester Lockdown zone. The Parish Council are working on the safety inspections, maintenance and cleansing of their enclosed play areas, play equipment and outdoor gym equipment.

Birstall Parish Council have taken the decision to close the car park onto School Lane playing fields from today, 1 June 2020 until further notice.
The three pedestrian entrances on School Lane, Loughborough Road and Sibson Road will remain open for the time being.

Questions are being asked about why the Parish Council's playing fields, sports grounds and play areas remain locked, when the Government has recently announced that parks should remain open to the public.
This advice is aimed at those local authorities who manage public open spaces and parks such as Watermead Country Park, Abbey Park, Bradgate Park, etc.

The Parish Council have attached signs to the two adopted play areas at Hallam Fields, they have fitted signs to the fence, identifying the location and also includes a telephone number for members of the public to be able to contact the office and report any issues or concerns relating to the play area.
